Maou-sama V1C15

Chapter 15 - Diary

The room suddenly became bright as we walked in. I looked around and wondered if everyday magic --- Light Bulb, was automatically deployed. Placed next to the room, there was a column that had been laid sideways, and someone who looked like a human lay inside it. The length of a column was about 2 meters, while its diameter was about 1 meter. The top half was made of glass, while the bottom half was made entirely of metal. Through the glass part, I could see the interior of column that looked like a bed adorned with luxurious fabrics.

Now that I take a closer look, isn't this column floating? His eyes are closed, so perhaps this man is sleeping. Before that, why is he here in the first place?

"Maou-sama, is he the Wise God?" (Fell)

The Demon God we fought back then also looked like an ordinary human, after all.

"No, this guy is not the Wise Good." (Maou-sama)

Why!? Maou-sama looks so sad for some reason.

"Is he your acquaintance, perhaps?" (Fell)

"That's right. You can even call him my comrade, I guess." (Maou-sama)

Maou-sama's comrade!? In that case, I have to pay respect to him. Let's introduce myself when he wakes up.

Maou-sama brought his palms together in front of his chest and closed his eyes.

What's wrong? Maybe I should do it, too.

"What are you doing, Maou-sama?" (Fell)

"Hmm? Ah, this is.... the guy in this capsule.... I mean, the guy in this column is already dead. This is a pose to mourn the dead." (Maou-sama)

What!? He looks alive, but.... he's already dead...? I didn't know there was a pose to mourn the dead. I will also do it.

"Fell doesn't know about this person. You don't have to do that. Or rather, you should have just cursed him instead." (Maou-sama)

"No, this person is Maou-sama's comrade, after all. But why should I curse him?" (Fell)

Maou-sama suddenly put his right hand on my head without saying anything.

Wow!? I don’t know what is this for, but I’m happy!!! I will not wash my head today. Yeah, don't forget to write it in my diary too.

When my brain was still trying to process the situation, Maou-sama removed his hand from my head.

"Someday, I will tell you everything." (Maou-sama)

I don't know what's Maou-sama going to tell me. However, from his sad expression, I know that it's not a good story.

"I understand. But please don't force yourself." (Fell)

Maou-sama nodded. He then put his left hand on his ear and began to look around the room.

I wonder what's Maou-sama looking for. Maybe I should help, too.

"Is there something I can do to help?" (Fell)

"No, but maybe later. You can look around, but don't touch anything." (Maou-sama)

"Yes, I will be careful not to touch anything." (Fell)

Since this room is something I don't normally see, let's look at various things while being careful not to touch them. The whole room looks monotone. Everything is made of metal, so it lacks the warmth. They should have made it all out of wood just like the houses in Sodogora Village. Speaking of which, this is the World Tree, right? Then why is everything made of metal?

There are some square glasses in the room, and a lot of letters flow from the bottom to the top. I don't know what's written on there, but looking at the moving letters for a long time only makes me feel dizzy. Next is the column. Maou-sama said the person inside it has already dead. Maybe this column is a coffin?

I've read about this in some books. Usually, the corpses are cremated to prevent them from turning into zombies. Maybe the coffin is used to confine the corpse, so even it turned into zombie during the process, the zombie won't be able to run away from the cremation.

Looking closely inside column, I noticed that Maou-sama's comrade was hugging a book of some kind.

What kind of book is that? I, as a book lover, am curious!

"Fell, what's wrong?" (Maou)

Maou-sama called out to me when I was scrutinizing the column from various angles to take a better look at the book.

I hope Maou-sama didn't think I was doing something weird. That would be really embarrassing.

"There seems to be a book inside. I was wondering if I could see the title." (Fell)

"Book? Oh, this is…" (Maou-sama)

There was a small square glass attached to the bottom half of the column. Maou-sama touched it once and some numbers appeared on it. Next he touched those number in a certain order, and not long after that, the upper half of the column opened from the middle while leaking out cold air.

Maou-sama then picked up the book and touched the square glass once more. This time, the opened part of the column closed slowly. Maou-sama turned his attention to the book as he flipped through it.

I want to read it, too….

"This is a diary, I guess." (Maou)

Diary? This is a secret, but I'm also writing one. Though the owner is dead, he might be embarrassed if he knows someone reads his diary. I have to keep a tight seal on my diary so something like this won't happen to me in the future.

Maou-sama's expression turned severe as he read the diary more carefully.

"Maou-sama, is there something wrong?" (Fell)

"He wrote in this diary about how his Support AI.... I mean, about how the Wise God went crazy." (Maou-sama)

Support what? More importantly, has the Wise God gone crazy? Is that even possible? No, it's possible since he is just a fake.

Maou-sama closed the book. He then touched his chin with his left hand and seemed lost in thought.

"Fell, I'm sorry, but could you keep this book for me?" (Maou-sama)

"Certainly. May I read it too?" (Fell)

"Go ahead. I don't think you will understand its contents, though. Just take your time." (Maou-sama)

“Yes. I will do that.” (Fell)

Let’s put the book in my subspace for now. I will read it later when I have time.

In the meantime, Maou-sama headed towards a certain part of wall, and took out some kind of box out of it. He placed the box that could be held with both hands on the floor carefully after that.

Maou-sama pulled out a string from the same spot where he took out the box and connected it to his gauntlet.

"Please don't disturb me for a while." (Maou)

"I understand." (Fell)

Maou-sama did the same thing in the previous room. He connected a cord from the wall to his gauntlet to rewrite the information. I don't quite get it, but I want to learn it someday.

Around 10 minutes later, Maou-sama removed the cord from his gauntlet.

"I've kept you waiting." (Maou-sama)

"No, there is no problem." (Fell)

"I have defeated the Wise God safely." (Maou-sama)

"Eh!? This is completely different from the picture of hell like when we fought the Demon God." (Fell)

"That's right. The only defense system here was the angels, and since I've disabled all them before, the rest was pretty easy." (Maou-sama)

Yup, as expected of Maou-sama. I thought it would turn out like a pandemonium.

"Oh, right. I will give you this just in case." (Maou-sama)

"This is...?" (Fell)

"That's the operating manual for this place. I've registered you in the system, so now you also have the authority to access it. However, don't read it unless you really need it." (Maou-sama)

"Yes. Thank you very much." (Fell)

I don't get it, but since it's a gift from Maou-sama, I will take a really good care of it. I have no idea when it will be needed, though. Maybe I won't read this book for the rest of my life.

"Let's return. There's no need to be here anymore." (Maou-sama)

"Yes." (Fell)

There were various things, but the extra mode has also been cleared with this. I want to return to the Sodogora Village soon and have a good meal.
