Chapter 27 – Parents and Child

The morning training went as usual. Then, after breakfast and his two brothers went to school, Aina spoke to Gail.

"Gail, I'm done showing you the clinic. You understand, right?" (Aina)

"Yes~." (Gail)

"Then stay in your room today." (Aina)

"Yes~." (Gail)

I knew it was going to happen after all the commotion. But why do I have to stay in my room? That guy, even though he said to leave it to him. Did the negotiation fail? I haven't heard his report because he was talking with my parents until late at night.

“Misha, after lunch, take Gail and come to Arnold’s office with Dan.” (Aina)

“Yes, Madam.” (Misha)

Gail returned to his room with Misha and Dan came in not long after that.

"Yo!" (Dan)

Gail stared at Dan who casually raised his hand.

"You said to leave it to you. Look what happens now!" (Gail)

"What's with those accusing eyes? I've told them properly and there was no problem." (Dan)

"But I was told to stay in my room!" (Gail)

"Young Master was told to come to Master's office after lunch, right?" (Dan)

"That's right, I was told to come with you and Misha." (Gail)

"I think Master and Madam want to hear everything directly from Young Master and to discuss about the future together." (Dan)

"Well, I guess, that's good enough." (Gail)

"That's how it is." (Dan)

"I'm sorry for doubting you, Dan." (Gail)

Dan said that he didn't care and laughed it off.

"So, how much did you tell my parents?" (Gail)

"I told them that Young Master can already talk normally, that Young Master has received a message from God, and about Misha who also can use magic without incantation. That's about it." (Dan)

"Got it. So, what was their reaction? Did they think I am creepy?" (Gail)

"They were really shocked, but they didn't think Young Master was creepy whatsoever. Besides, Master had already have the feeling that Young Master was using baby talk on purpose." (Dan)

"Did he notice it? Even though I didn't spent much time with Dad." (Gail)

"We are talking about Master, after all." (Dan)

"How about Mom?" (Gail)

"Madam looked a bit lonely." (Dan)

"Lonely?" (Gail)

"Yeah, because I and Misha knew Young Master's secret before her." (Dan)

"Madam...." (Misha)

"Misha, don't worry about it. Madam said it herself that it was because you were the one who spent the longest time with Young Master." (Dan)

"Yes...." (Misha)

Misha feels indebted to Aina for picking her up. I guess she thinks it's the same as betraying her.

"I'll also tell Mother that it wasn't Misha's fault for knowing about it first, so don't worry." (Gail)

"Yes, Young Master...." (Misha)

Misha answered softly, still looking dejected.

If you keep making that face, I will start to feel bad, too.

While Gail was thinking that he had to do something about the slightly darkened air, it was time for lunch.

"O-Oh, it's lunch time. Let's go to the dining room, Misha." (Gail)

Dan said he'd see the two in Arnold's office after lunch and escaped alone.

"Dad? It's rare to see you eat lunch at home." (Bent)

"Yeah, I came back to get something and I thought it would be nice to have lunch together once in a while." (Arnold)

"Yes, Dad." (Bent)

Bent and Arnold talked for a while, and then John spoke to Arnold.

"Father, I need to talk to you about something." (John)

"Oh, what's the matter?" (Arnold)

"This is about my specialized education." (John)

"What, you don't want to go?" (Arnold)

"No, it's not like that. I want to go to the knight school in royal capital." (John)

"Do you want to be a knight?" (Arnold)

"I don't know what the future holds, but I want to improve my swordsmanship." (John)

"Well, you can only practice in the morning with me here. However, you need to pass the exam first and I heard it's quite difficult. People from all over the country come to apply, after all." (Arnold)

"I will do my best." (John)

"I see. When is the exam?" (Arnold)

"Three months from now." (John)

"I guess that's barely enough time.... Okay, do as you like." (Arnold)

"Thank you, Father." (John)

Is John going to enter a knight school? I don't know how difficult the exam is, but I don't think John will fail when it come to sword skill.

Gail glanced at Bent who was looking down while mumbling about something.

Arnold and Aina headed straight to the office after finishing their lunch. After John and Bent also left the dining room, Dan came and the three went to Arnold's office together.

*knock* *knock*

“Come in!” (Arnold)

Arnold’s voice was heard from the inside.

“Excuse me.” (Dan)

“Close the door.” (Arnold)

Misha who came in last with Gail closed the door.

-

"Gail went into Dad's office...? But I was told that we were not allowed to enter." (Bent)

Bent was watching the three from afar.

"What's the matter, Master Bent? Let's go." (Sarah)

"Sarah, I just saw Gail entered Dad's office." (Bent)

"Yes, is there any problem?" (Sarah)

"No, nothing...." (Bent)

-

-

-

"Madam. I'm sorry!" (Misha)

"Hmm? Did you do something you need to apologize for, Misha?" (Aina)

"I'm sorry because I found out that Young Master could talk normally before you did.... and for keeping it secret until now...." (Misha)

"It's not Misha’s fault. You have been with Gail the longest, after all. It's true that I felt a little lonely, though." (Aina)

"That's...." (Misha)

"And Gail's first word is actually Misha, right? Not Mom." (Aina)

"I-I'm very sorry........" (Misha)

"Like I said, it's not your fault. I'm not angry either." (Aina)

"Yes, Madam...." (Misha)

"Gail, you like Misha, right?" (Aina)

"Misha, like~." (Gail)

"I've heard it from Dan. You can also talk normally in front of us." (Aina)

*silence*

"Yes, Mom. I already consider Misha as a family member." (Gail)

"I've heard it from Dan, but you really can talk normally...." (Arnold)

"I'm sorry for being silent. It's creepy, isn't it?" (Gail)

Hearing those words, Arnold and Aina hugged Gail tightly.

"Silly Gail. There are no parents who would think that their child is creepy." (Aina)

"That's right, Gail! You will always be our cute son. Don't worry about that." (Arnold)

With tears in their eyes, the two hugged Gail even tighter.

"Gail, I'm sorry for not noticing it sooner. It was hard, wasn't it? No matter what happens, we will be on your side, so you can tell us about anything." (Aina)

"That's right, Gail. Trust us and tell us about anything. No matter hat happens, we will never hate you." (Arnold)

I can feel my parents' love for me. I was also a parent in my previous life, but I don't think I have ever expressed my love for my children so straightforwardly like this. I wonder if my children also had some insecurity that I had never realized it.

Just like there are things that parents find it difficult to convey to their children, there are also things that children find it difficult to convey to their parents.

Thinking about that, Gail hugged Arnold and Aina back.

“Thank you, Mom, Dan.” (Gail)

Dan and Misha were also crying as they watched the parents and child.
